Terms of Service
Storyforge is operated by Venture Republic LLC. By accessing or using Storyforge, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the product.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Storyforge. By using the product, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using Storyforge on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at legal@usestoryforge.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may not create accounts for others without their consent, share your account with others, or use automated means to create accounts.
3. Your content
You own your work. You retain full copyright to everything you write, upload, or create in Storyforge. Nothing you create here becomes ours by virtue of storing it on our platform. We claim no licence over your manuscripts, screenplays, notes, or any other creative work.
By using Storyforge, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Storyforge to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Write or distribute content that promotes violence, hate, harassment, or the exploitation of others.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the product.
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise access to Storyforge without our written permission.
- Interfere with or disrupt the security, integrity, or performance of the service.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the product.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Beta access
Storyforge is currently in private beta. Access is by invitation only and is provided free of charge during the beta period. Beta access may be granted, modified, or revoked at our discretion.
The beta is provided as-is. Early-access software has bugs. We work quickly to fix them and to preserve your data, but we cannot guarantee zero interruption, data loss, or uninterrupted availability during the beta period. We strongly recommend keeping backups of important work.
6. Pricing and payment
The beta is free. When Storyforge launches publicly, paid plans will be introduced. We will notify all beta users of pricing at least 30 days before any charges apply. Beta members will receive a permanent discount on the plan they choose at launch.
We will never charge you without explicit notice and your affirmative action to upgrade to a paid plan.
7. Intellectual property
The Storyforge name, logo, product design, and all software are owned by Venture Republic LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or other brand elements without our prior written consent.
8. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time by contacting us at legal@usestoryforge.com. Upon cancellation, we will provide an export of your content in any standard format and delete your data from our servers within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation. For non-urgent matters, we will provide at least 30 days' notice. Accounts inactive for more than 12 months may be closed after notice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Venture Republic LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Storyforge, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Storyforge shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Storyforge is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
12. Changes to these terms
We will notify active users by email at least 30 days before any material change to these terms. Continued use of Storyforge after the effective date of the updated terms constitutes your acceptance of them. The current version of these terms will always be available at this URL.
