Privacy & Terms
Storyforge is a private beta software product operated by Venture Republic LLC. This page describes how we handle your data and the terms under which you use our product. Plain-English summary first, formal terms below.
§ Privacy — the short version
Your writing is yours. We do not train models on your manuscripts. We do not read your writing. We do not share it with third parties. Full stop.
What we store. Your account (email, name, chosen segment), your documents (encrypted at rest), and product analytics that never include the content of your writing.
Waitlist data. If you request early access, we store your email address, first name, and writing segment. We use this to send you invites and product updates. You can request deletion at any time by emailing legal@usestoryforge.com.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not have a tracking pixel.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting product analytics (Plausible, self-hosted) that record page views and interaction events. No IP addresses are stored. No cross-site tracking is performed. Analytics data is retained for 90 days.
AI features
The Story Review Engine sends your manuscript to a large-language-model provider for the duration of a review pass, and receives the review back. The provider is contractually prohibited from training on your data, and content is not retained past the request. If you would prefer not to use AI features, they can be disabled per-project.
Data location
Storyforge data is stored in US regions (primary) with EU replication for European accounts. On request, we can commit to EU-only storage for GDPR-regulated accounts.
§ Terms — the short version
You own your work. You retain full copyright to everything you write in Storyforge. Nothing you write becomes ours by writing it here. If you cancel your account, we return your data to you (any standard export format) and delete it from our servers within 30 days.
What you can't do. Reverse-engineer the product, resell access, use it for illegal purposes, or use it to write content that promotes violence, hate, or the exploitation of others.
The beta is provided as-is. This is early-access software. It will have bugs. We work quickly to fix them and to preserve your data, but we cannot warrant zero interruption during the beta period.
Account termination
You may cancel your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate the terms above, or that are inactive for more than 12 months, with 30 days' notice.
Changes to these terms
We'll email active users at least 30 days before any material change. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
